All Things Volunteering

Volunteers are crucial to this league. It wouldn’t be able to run if parents and coaches don’t step up. Volunteering times varies depending on the job.

Volunteering with the league is vital. They depend heavy on volunteers. Pit Zone has assigned times for each team. Those are determined by how many volunteers we have with the league.

Our teams needs between 10-15 volunteers per race.

Watch TeamSnap to volunteer with the team. We will also post a link to volunteer with the league. Or you can go to idahomtb.org

Volunteering Positions with Right MTB -

Camping Coordinator - Gets there first on Fridays and picks the spot for the team to camp. Also finds out before the race who is camping to make sure the space is big enough.

Finish Line Catch - This is a term we use to make sure there is a parent/coach at the finish line to help the rider. Riders are exhausted after their race, and we like to make sure they are supported with whatever they need.

Set up Food - You would be getting all the food out for lunches, and also putting it away. Making sure that all riders and those who paid had a chance to eat.

Transporting Food- At times we need help getting the food to the races. It will be in 2 coolers.

Pit Zone (set up/take down) - We have 4 canopies that make up pit zone. Along with bike stands and tables. Set up would be on Friday. Take down is Saturday around 5:00pm. Many hands make light work.

Volunteering with IICL league-

Announcing Assistant- Help the announcer at the race

Announcing Spotter - You tell the announcer the race plates coming up

Course Marshall - Be stationed somewhere along a trail with a radio. A course marshal will communicate with other marshals and roving course marshals regarding positioning of race leaders and groups and needs of student-athletes along the trail. A marshal is there to ensure a student-athlete is never far from help. Marshals are often stationed near areas that may be problems or where riders might be more likely to have an issue.

Crossing Guard - Help keep non-racers off the course at key locations and help them cross safely at appropriate times.

GRiT Tent - You help the league GRiT gal run the tent. Usually helping with crafts

Finish Line -  As student-athletes cross the finish line, you’ll direct them to the chute leading off the course and offer support where needed.
Last minute needs - Just what it sounds like, this is a backup position. NICA races are a well oiled machine but sometimes people are not able to fulfill assignments they’ve volunteered for. This position is simply to step in where needed as directed.
Merch Tent - Transact sales at the NICA merchandise tent.

Parking Lot Attendant -

Roving Course Marshall  - Do much of the same as a regular course marshal but while riding the course with the student-athletes who are racing. This takes a decent level of fitness as you will typically be carrying a large pack full of supplies while completing several laps of the course.

Scoring Assistant - Help the finish line

Staging  - Assist the staging of student-athletes prior to a race. You’ll be given a clipboard of information and will help position them prior to placement and make sure everybody is staged where needed.

Volunteer Desk - Help check in the volunteers

Welcome Tent - You are the first face people see when they come. You direct them where they need to go.
